Eight Are Killed At Rail Crossing In Ohio
Eight Akron residents returning from an evangelistic meeting were killed when a New York Central Pace Maker train struck their automobile at the Murray Ridge road crossing in Elyria. The victims include Millard C. Martin and Fugenia Martin with children David Donald Sharlene and Timothy, Warren Edwards and Mary Edwards. The train, traveling 70 to 75 mph, could not stop in time despite warning signals.

Minnie Mangum, a 52 year old former officer of Commonwealth Building and Loan Assn, found guilty today of embezzling almost three million dollars to fund a lavish giveaway for family and friends over 22 years. Judge Lawrence Bullock deferred sentence to June 25 and set bond at 50,000. She pleaded guilty to 12 to 16 indictments including embezzlement and forgery. prosecutors may quash remaining indictments. Weekend Crash Toll Rises With Three More Accidents
Three additional auto crashes were reported over the weekend in Frederick area, adding about $600 to the damage total of nearly $4,000. In Clarke County White Post at 9:20 a.m. a Ford sedan from Boston and a Chevrolet from Summit Point collided at Rt 340 and Rt 658 injuring no one. In Frederick County on Rt 11 north of Winchester at 9:50 p.m. Saturday a Chevrolet convertible from Rt 2 passed another car and came up behind a Mercury coupe from Stephenson, no injuries reported.

British Soldier Killed in Battle With Youthful Greek Cypriots

Coast Guard Opens Probe of East River Collision
The Coast Guard opened an inquiry into the collision of a 180 foot tanker M. J. Derby II and the 33 foot cabin cruiser Escape II off 51st Street in the East River. In Crestline California Kimberlee Norling seven was found dying after an apparent electric shock near a vibrating foot machine and a photo machine. Deputy Coroner Edward P. Doyle said all evidence points to electric shock as the cause. Her parents nearby learned of the death after she was taken to a hospital at Lake Arrowhead.
