Front Royal Virginias society column records a May eventful week with weddings visits and travel. Miss Christine Basto married FR Payne in Richmond as relatives arrive at the Afton Inn. Many local residents host or visit kin in Front Royal Hume Gretna Buena Vista and Washington.
Blanche McKay a San Francisco socialite appears in jail to present an alibi for Millard Hickman a shipping magnate tied to the death of Louise Jeppesen of Ogden Utah. Jeppesen was found dead after a party at Hickman’s apartment where McKay also attended and testified she was with him at the time.
Mr and Mrs C W Ritter of Winchester were guests yesterday of their son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs B T Shiner.
Mrs J L Wood of Irvington N J visits grandmother Mrs Hester Maddox. Mr and Mrs John Crisman of Winchester stay with their brother in law and sister Mr and Mrs Alvin Johnson. A C Haggard returns home after business in Waynesboro. Miss Eva Marshall returns to Washington after weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs James Marshall.
Two claims for highway damages on the Valley Pike have been definitively settled and paid by the State Highway Commission. The amounts recorded in the county clerk's records include C. W. Pingley and Tenie Omps et al, totaling $200.
City Court heard motions in several chancery cases and recommitted some to commissioners for additional reports. No juries have been summoned this term, and with the criminal docket cleared last term it is unlikely juries will be needed. Three pending cases against Max Krol will be continued by consent of the Commonwealth.
