A Frederick County couple Charles J Snapp 60 and Frances 53 died when an explosion and fire leveled their home near Mt Williams west of Winchester The blast traced to a gas leak from a bottled gas fueled stove and a wood stove burning overnight Firefighters battled the blaze amid heavy rain and the case remains under investigation The Snapps survive two sons five grandchildren and a brother Funeral plans are pending at Jones Funeral Home

The May rains bring a clover crop as Record Field notes two residents report multi leaf finds. Hugh T. Netherton found a six leaf clover in his yard along with three five leaf and three four leaf clovers.
