Veteran Postman Injured In Auto Accident Improves
Veteran postman Joan I. Brown Sr. oldest Winchester letter carrier was knocked down by a car driven by Mrs. R. Gray Williams near Braddock and Piccadilly streets. Brown, had a fractured collarbone and shoulder blade, multiple bruises, and nervous shock subsided. doctors expect recovery. Williams, from Amherst street, said she moved slowly at about ten miles per hour and could have stopped quickly. she saw Brown cross toward the bus terminal and called to him before he stepped into the path of the car. Williams stopped a few feet beyond the impact and summoned help. Mr. Williams accompanied Brown to Memorial Hospital.
