Sixteen Killed In Airplane Crash At Lagens Field
A B 29 bomber crashed off the runway at Lagens Field Azores last night killing all 16 aboard. Unofficial reports say the aircraft struck an automobile off field and caught fire immediately burning in minutes. Nine or ten burned bodies described as beyond recognition. The plane was en route from Barksdale AFB Shreveport to Bermuda England as part of rotation training. Captain Salvadore Pelle of Barksdale said engine trouble preceded the crash. No high ranking officers were aboard.

Power shut off by electric storm near O Sullivan

Prisoner Killed In Escape Try At Maryland Penitentiary

Escapee Charged With Auto Theft in Shenandoah County
Billy Andrews 23 of Pulaski who escaped from a deputy in Strasburg last February 20 and later appeared at his home with severely frozen feet has been returned to Shenandoah County jail Woodstock to stand trial on two car theft charges.
