Robert Burns Barr a Winchester native and Staunton resident for 45 years died at 6 pm in King's Daughters Hospital Staunton after an operation. He was 80 and survived by three sons Hugh L William T Mason O Barr and three daughters Ellen Virginia Barr and Mrs Worth Koiner. He was a member of Central Methodist Episcopal Church South and Knights of Pythias. Interment in Thornrose Cemetery Staunton following funeral at Thornrose.

Last Rites for Chas W Brown Veteran Printer
Funeral services for Charles W Brown veteran foreman of the Evening Star mechanical department were held at Mount Hebron Chapel. He died at Winchester Memorial Hospital after a brief pneumonia illness. A large printing community attendance and floral tributes marked the service. The Rev Robert B Nelson officiated with a choir singing Abide with Me and Rock of Ages. Burial followed in the Brown family lot beside his parents. He left no immediate family but is survived by cousins and relatives in Winchester Strasburg Front Royal and Front Royal area.

George Hutzler World War Vet Dies in Maryland
George S. Hutzler, 43, of Frederick county, died Wednesday at the U S Veterans Hospital in Perryville Maryland from lobar pneumonia after a two year stay. He served in France with a Virginia company in World War I and was shell shocked and gassed. Survived by his widow Frances Palmer four children and numerous siblings, his body lies at Union Corner near Arden with burial at Needmore Church graveyard following a military funeral by Berkeley Post American Legion.

In Richmond Virginia on May 16 the Winchester Woolen Company received a charter with 100000 authorized capital to take over the defunct Arthur G Jones Woolen Mills plant. Dr Hunter H McGuire elected to his thirtieth consecutive term as president of Winchester Memorial Hospital. The board set a May 2 hearing on a $70 000 bond issue to fund a $60 000 bond repayment and $10 000 for hospital expenses. A new executive committee was named, and twenty one directors were reelected for three years. The board also plans talks with county officials on indigent patient care.
