The notice orders all members to report at the armory on Tuesday May 16 1933 at 7 30 p m in uniform. No excuses accepted. Captain Paul R Hartman commands the 116th Infantry with Wang listed as commander. An advertisement line offers high prices at 13 Fairfax Lane with phone contact.
Handley High School seniors will stage Peg O My Heart a fast moving comedy of many situations. Peg a naive Irish heroine enters an English home and causes laughter with servants and family alike. Cast includes Martha Stine Nelia Beverley Kenneth Robinson and others with general admission forty cents and students twenty five cents.
Funeral services were held for Elder J William Brannon a renowned Primitive Baptist minister and Whitacre postmaster. He died after a long illness at age 64, with rites at his Whitacre home and at Timber Ridge Church conducted by Elder Thompson Powers. Interment followed in the family plot. six nephews served as pallbearers.
An 11-year-old girl named Ileen Strong was shot on her Champaign porch while reading a newspaper comic section. Police traced a .22 caliber bullet to an urban residence as a possible early clue to a demented attacker. The child's parents, Mr and Mrs Charles Strong, reported the tragedy while the father was on duty as a railroad engineer.

Chicago May 15. Rocco Belcastro a 25 year old described by police as burglar liquor dealer terrorist and circus gang member was found shot to death in an automobile. The body was bound with clothes line and elastic cord partly wrapped in a burlap bag and covered with a blanket. A loaded pistol with six notches remained in a shoulder holster. Blood on the running board suggested he was killed elsewhere and placed in the car. Investigators theorize gangster enemies killed him while bound.
Billy Barnes Winchester organist will present a brief 15 minute program before The Star cooking school lectures at Capitol Theatre each morning this week from Tuesday to Friday. The 10 o clock lectures start daily with requests welcomed if received the day before. Tomorrow at 9 45 o clock the Barnes group will perform Marche Militaire Poem Night and Day Prelude in C Sharp Minor and Redemption.
The Winchester reserve officers group will meet at Shenandoah Valley Academy at 8 p m Wednesday May 17 with Col B M Roszel in charge The discussion topic is Infantry Regiment in Action Against a Fortified Position All interested in military affairs are invited to attend.

Secretary Hull backs diplomacy with reciprocal treaties to ease embargoes, quotas, quarantines, and tariffs, citing a potential 20 percent acreage shrink if markets stay closed. The U S exports the most apples globally, with 15 to 20 percent of production abroad prior to 1930.
John G. Adolfi director of Arliss Films died last Thursday in the British Columbia wilds after a cerebral hemorrhage while hunting grizzly bears. The 52 year old film veteran was with a party isolated from civilization until Sunday when they found a communication channel to report the death.
The first contingent of Gold Star mothers and war widows arriving in New York will sail Wednesday on the President Harding. The group of 134 women travels to Europe for battlefield and graveyard visits as guests of the federal government, the first of five groups this summer with two week intervals between sailings. The pilgrimages began four years ago and will conclude after the final group returns.
Mrs Edna Riggs Crabtree of the Home Economics Service Corporation arrives in Winchester to conduct The Star’s cooking school at the Capitol Theatre starting tomorrow morning. She praises Southern hospitality and aims to share regional dishes and techniques with local home-makers.
Washington May 15 The District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the indictment against Bishop James Cannon Jr for violation of the corrupt practices act in 1928 valid. The court upheld the grand jury indictment and the District Supreme Court ruling, reversing a prior quashing.

Gas ton B. Means resumed the witness stand in the Lindbergh kidnapping hoax trial to say he told Mrs Evelyn Walsh McLean's lawyers that four alleged principals were in Washington and could be arrested. He named Wellington Henderson Irving Fenton Max Hassel and Max Greenberg as the principals and showed a May 3 letter urging Hassel to testify. The defense sought a directed verdict, which was denied, and six motions to strike portions of the testimony were overruled.
In Baltimore on May 15 Emma Dochterman 75 a widow died after falling 20 feet from a second floor porch behind her home She was dead on arrival at the hospital Police say she stood on a box on a chair while nailing an awning and the box slipped.
New York May 15 Ernest Torrence veteran screen actor died at 54 after gall bladder surgery. The six foot four inch star appeared in Tolable David The Covered Wagon Ruggles of Red Gap and many films. Born in Edinburgh Scotland he also sang opera and was a concert pianist before stage and screen fame.
Staunton M A cadets arrive May 19 for their annual encampment at Rouss Spring Park on Winchester’s southeast edge. The advance echelon under Capt J Taylor pitches tents and prepares for daily drills, parades, rifle range competitions, and ROTC classes before May 26. Col Russell notes Winchester’s cooperative site and historic use.
The Winchester Memorial Hospital Board of Directors will hold its regular spring meeting tomorrow afternoon starting at 1 PM. Staff will host a luncheon for directors at 1 PM, then the board will proceed with the business session. members in Virginia and nearby West Virginia are urged to attend.

Wagner aided him as he suffered nausea after a strenuous day including a stop in Charles Town, West Virginia.
Margaret McMath ten year old Harwichport girl testified before a Barnstable county grand jury for one hour and three minutes about her kidnapping. Her parents paid sixty thousand dollars for her safe return, joined by associates William Lee and Harold Sawyer.
The U S S Macon the navy's new zeppelin started its third test flight at 5 12 am. The craft planned a twelve hour mission with Captain Alger H Diesel withholding itinerary details. Among 109 aboard was Rear Admiral Ernest J King who succeeded the late Rear Admiral William A Moffett as head of the naval bureau of aeronautics.
