Studebaker Fielding Five 85 Percent Stock Cars at Indianapolis

Five Studebaker Presidents, each 85 percent stock, will compete in this year’s Indianapolis race as part of the corporation’s engineering research. Local dealers Dellinger Brothers note the brand’s past track successes, including a 500 mile average speed of 102.66 mph and a third place finish, with other team cars placing sixth to sixteenth in a field of forty. The cars average $33,500 in cost, with the winning car costing over $100,000, yet the cars remain largely stock as Studebaker aims to study performance under racing conditions rather than simply win.
