House Expected to Approve 2 Dollar Minimum Wage
The House faces a close vote as two bills seek to raise the minimum wage from 1.60 to 2.00 an hour. The Education and Labor Committee plan would cover 3 million state and local workers, 1.7 million federal workers and 1.1 million domestic workers. The Ehrlenborn bill would keep 45.5 million workers under current rules and create a separate teenage rate, with debate over a possible interim 1.80 step.
