Forty eight head of cattle will be sold Saturday at the Shenandoah Valley Polled Shorthorn Breeders Association annual sale at the Farmers Livestock Exchange. The lineup includes seven bulls and forty one females, starting at 1 p m with J E Halsey as auctioneer and Harry L McCann as sale manager.
In Aachen Winston Churchill urged the Soviet government to join a bona fide united Europe as he accepted the Charlemagne prize. About 600 refugees protested nearby, accusing him of wartime decisions that helped divide Germany. Churchill said Russia must play its part, noting a united Germany was essential to Europe’s unity.

In Topeka police report, two brothers aged 7 and 8 are accused of filching about 1200 dollars from a downtown cafe safe. An older boy led them to steal, with the group hiding roughly 582 dollars in a stairway. one accomplice, 18 year old Laverne Caskey, was arrested. The case involved multiple trips through the restaurant and threats to reveal the cops.
Gov. Stanley announced he is requesting the Gray Commission chair to call the executive committee into session soon for consideration of new proposals since a Charlottesville desegregation suit has been filed. A malfunction on an F86D Sabre at Selfridge Air Force Base caused 22 rockets to eject over a two mile area injuring three airmen and damaging several structures. The rockets, not armed on the ground, were recovered with two explosions reported and a two mile exclusion zone set around the site.
