Raymond G. Kent of Boyce Clarke county an employee of the Northern Virginia Power Company died after being shocked by a 23 000 volt line while climbing to a 44 000 volt feed at a pole in the city. Rescue workers used an inhalator for hours but Kent died about 2 pm after a fall of 35 feet.

Missionary Lester Leech Killed in Africa Lightning Storm
The Rev. Lester M. Leech United Brethren missionary to Africa died when struck by a bolt of lightning during a storm. Aged about 35, he was a Petersburg West Virginia native, married to Suzanna Randall, with two young children.
