Goon Dog Case In Balance In Court Today

Trial of C. E. Garber versus G. W. Pingley over the value of a coon dog occupied the county court with Justice Tavenner presiding. Witnesses disputed if the dog was a real coon dog, some saying acclimation affected hunting ability, Garber claiming the dog chased rabbits. A side issue concerns a board bill for the dog since its return, potentially affecting recovery if Garber prevails.

The peach grower’s bad luck becomes the housekeeper’s opportunity. Marketing has become a business of supplying town needs, not just disposing surplus. Planting forest trees hides poor land yet boosts appeal and profit. North Carolina farmers must solve the marketing problem with clever, efficient production. Sudan grass offers valuable summer grazing, notes J A Arey of NC State.
