Crowds Turn Out as Apple Blossom Festival Recovers From Rain
Friday started wet but Saturday and Sunday brought sunny crowds to Winchester for the 52nd Apple Blossom Festival. Queen Shenandoah II Maria Ferrer and Fire Marshal Richard Paul led Sunday in the Park crowds while parade routes filled Washington and Ticcadilly Streets. Festival president Dave Shetler praised overall turnout, noting Saturday and Sunday trimmed last year's totals by the rain Friday but added that attendance rose overall. officials counted heavy trash tonnage and praised Big Al Downing and Up with People for indoor to outdoor performances.
