Gillis Family Saga Starts New Chapter
Fredericksburg AP reports Leon Gillis continues his world voyage from a horse drawn wagon with his niece Eileen and friend Tommy Eyre joining. The family began in 1961 with a cross country wagon trip, then Europe and Russia in 1963. The current plan spans 18 months to three years heading to New York then San Francisco for an Orient voyage. Gillis laments laws and speed limits for horses and fears a growing divide among Americans while advocating a leisurely travel philosophy.
