Arrest Made in Slayings of Two Officers in Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg police said they arrested Lawrence Yeagler alias Lawrence Moore at a restaurant as part of the search for the killer of two officers. Winchester Civil War Reenactment Plans Approved
The Winchestr Frederick County Civil War Centennial Commission approved a Sept 19 reenactment on fields near Berryville Ave. and William Lockhart farm. About 500 reactivated Union and Confederate troops are expected to participate as the battle site recalls Sheridan’s 1864 crossfire near Opequon Creek and the Valley Pike.

Two Story House Burned On Route 50
A two story seven room home on Route 50 east of town burned out early today. An adjacent 255 gallon oil tank exploded waking residents within a half mile. Exact cause unknown with uncertainty whether fire or explosion occurred first. Owners Mr and Mrs Calvin Borrows away when fire started. Fire companies from Shawnee and Boyce fought the blaze until 6 a.m. with a flare up later. The home near Izaak Walton League Park was insured.

Civil Rights Backers Score Narrow First Victory
