Public hearings in Winchester will precede the final submission for a 102184 dollar federal grant aimed at aiding low and moderate income families. Hearings are tonight at 730 PM and Thursday at 3 PM in City Council chambers before the May 15 deadline.
Kellie Cather of Round Hill won both Grand Champion and Reserve Champion steers at the 23rd annual Winchester Baby Beef Show and Sale. The event drew 31 steers from Frederick and Clarke Counties with 4-H and FFA participants. the top Angus weighed 1,185 pounds and sold for 1.55 a pound. Total proceeds were 29,012.39 with an average 645.56 per head. Senior Showmanship went to Kirk Clevenger. Junior to Robert Fletcher Jr. Other breed honors went to Kirk Clevenger Eddie Cather Kellie Cather George Cather Jr. and Eddie Richard.
Winchester escaped major harm in the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival while Loudoun Street Mall faced about 50 damage and debris totaling 17 tons. City officials note no street furniture injury and outline cleanup costs and recent City Council decisions.

Ronald Andrews and Slate face multiple counts of breaking and entering grand and petty larceny. Others indicted include Pamplin Dellinger Reed Lamb Haslam McWhinney Wood Crutcher Reedy Townley Burker Corron with various charges and arraignments scheduled through May and July.
