The Democratic executive committee met at City Hall to plan a primary on Tuesday June 3 to elect 14 delegates with half votes each to the state convention in Norfolk on June 11. City receives seven votes. candidates must file petitions with City Chairman Ritenour by May 20. New chairman D W Ritenour elected. meeting chaired by John M Steck.
The Tokio Nichi Nichi editor doubts President Coolidge can sign the immigration bill without offending Japan. The editor warns that national honor rests on the President's final disposal of the measure.
Exceptional cast for Mary Pickford's latest photoplay Dorothy Vernon of Had don Hall for United Artists headlines the Colonial Theatre engagement Thursday and Friday. Allan Forrest plays Sir John Manners with Randolf as Sir George Vernon and Mare McDermott as Sir Malcolm Vernon. Mare Eames appears as Queen Elizabeth and Estelle Taylor as Queen Mary alongside Pickford.

May 5 near Shenandoah and Maurertown two dynamite accidents left Russell Borden dead and Ernest Gochenour badly injured. Both men were rushed to Winchester Memorial Hospital with Gochenour’s injuries described as serious and Borden’s as fatal.
W Karl Milburn a well known carpenter and building contractor died at 12 30 this afternoon at his West Southwark street home after six weeks illness from complications. He was about 44 and survived by his widow Miss Anderson five children two brothers John Milburn of Boyce Clarke county and Basil Milburn Martinsburg pike. Native of Capon Springs West Virginia he had lived here for years. Funeral from the home Thursday at 2 with Woodmen of the World in charge and interment at Mount Hebron Cemetery. Friendship Fire Company to be represented.
Canvassing teams organized by Shenandoah Valley Inc officers began in Winchester and Frederick County to raise 4500 for the local fund supporting the organization's program. Rufus Freeman, financial director, met team captains and announced the city and county will be canvassed. Subscriptions handled by Andrew Bell, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce.

Relatives report Miss Esther Thomas of this city was injured in an auto accident near Resington while riding with an older man and companions. Their car overturned trapping occupants. a secret service officer owner carried two revolvers, bullets grazing Miss Thomas. She and a companion were treated for injuries and released the next day.
Postmaster Hunter II Kern returns to the post office for a brief visit his first since surgery at Memorial Hospital. He is much improved but remains very weak from the operation.
The revue Blossom Time boasts its own orchestra and a lavish production arriving by special train. It features three hundred scenic units, a large cast of performers and elaborate costumes, running at the Empire for a major engagement with showgoers urged to attend at 8:15 p.m. tonight.
The county school board approved a ten percent pay cut for teachers to fund essential needs. Officials warned remaining salaries may be lower than prior figures and that some wages could drop to a single pay period. The move aims to keep schools operating and protect student health amid building concerns at Back Creek and other sites. Continued on Page Three.
