The Auxiliary of Winchester Rescue Squad hosts a rummage and white elephant sale at Squad Headquarters on May 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Warren County Extension Activities May 10 at Waterlick Buckton EH are canceled.
The Frederick County Parks and Recreation Department announces that the Clear Brook Park pool and paddle boats will open to the public at noon on Friday May 26. Hours are daily noon to 8 pm through Labor Day with season pool passes good for 40 admissions available at the Recreation Office. For more information, call 667-4607.
The Red Cross First Aid Course for ages 14 and up runs May 9 to 25 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Clear Brook Park Clubhouse. Registration is at the recreation department office 9 Court Square Winchester on the 3rd floor with a $2.03 book purchase required. The Farmers Market on Loudoun and Bond Streets sells plants, baked goods, eggs and more May 5 and 6. Parking will be available for the Apple Blossom parade. The Daniel J Farrar Elks Lodge hosts a late night disco at 10 p.m. on both Apple Blossom Festival nights to aid the club charity fund.
Mary Ann Lawrence the Front Royal Fire Departments honorary chief will ride with the Front Royal unit in the Apple Blossom Firemen Parade Friday afternoon. She is a Warren County High School junior active in track, basketball, majorette, and Tri Theta Sorority, and serves on the Front Royal Youth Center board.
The Virginia Lung Association presented Blister and Bunion awards to 103 walkers after the 4th annual 15 mile Front Royal Walk-a-thon from Warren County Junior High School to the Dickey Ridge picnic area. Sponsor pledges totaled 4039.22, the largest in Front Royal’s history, aiding lung-disease patients.
