Supreme Court upholds jury discretion in death penalty cases

National Forest Land Reopened in Virginia After Rain

Miller Says 60 Day Review of Election Laws Deadline Met
Virginia Attorney General Andrew Miller announced the Justice Department’s 60 day review period for the 1971 reapportionment and omnibus election laws has expired and urged full implementation. He argued that even if objections arise before May 10, they would not affect the Voting Rights Act test. He noted the period began March 2 when Gov. Holton delivered the bill to Attorney General Mitchell.

1924 Locomobile Wins Best in Show at Apple Blossom Meet
Clayton Bennington of Kernstown drives a 1924 Locomobile to top honors at the 13th Annual Apple Blossom Antique Car Show held in Winchester Recreation Park. The car placed second in its class but was voted best in show by Shenandoah Region members of the Antique Automobile Club of America. Bennington also received the Winchester Frederick County Chamber of Commerce best in show award from Forrest Jones at a Lee Jackson Restaurant banquet. About 200 restored cars attended along with a flea market and costume judging.
