United Nations Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold told the Security Council he has secured unconditional cease fire pledges from Israel and four Arab neighbors Egypt Lebanon Syria and Jordan. He outlined a progress report from Jerusalem and Cairo and said the next step is full compliance with the 1949 armistice accords. He may return in June to press for stronger cease fire and a solid basis for agreements.

Braddock Street Church Opens May Fund Drive for New Education Building
Braddock Street Methodist Church launches a May 13 fund drive to build a 20 000 square foot education building. Dr Alton E Lowe of The Methodist Church arrives to direct the campaign. Architects Smithey and Boynton Roanoke prepared plans for a departmentized facility with recreation and banquet space for about 300 people. Existing services will move to temporary quarters during construction. The church’s average attendance has grown from 185 in 1904 to 500 now, justifying a larger building. The trout season opened Tuesday as thousands of Frederick County anglers fished Cedar Creek Paddy's Run Back Creek and Opequon Creek. State hatcheries supplied rainbow and brook trout eight to sixteen inches while the Blue Ridge Shenandoah Park opened with a nine inch minimum. A creel limit of eight trout per day applies and fishing runs from an hour before sunrise to an hour after sunset.

Local Man Held In Service Station Entry
Benjamin Ernest Dodson of Woodstock Lane, 31, is ordered held for action by a Corporation Court grand jury on a breaking and entering charge arising from the April 29 entry of the N. Loudoun Atlantic Station. Police say a pair of coveralls a mirror and a filling slip were taken after a window was broken to access the grease room. Dodson admitted the entry and was arrested at 2:30 p.m. yesterday at his workplace by Lt. Warren Rudolph and Officer James A. Claycomb.
