Military ceremony timing for To the Colors during Color advance
The band plays To the Colors as the Colors advance only if local protocol permits. Generally the flag detail moves first, then the color guard advances while the march ends as the colors reach their position. Ensure cadence aligns with color guard movement and ceremonial rules.
Defense clarifies composition is bugle call not a march
The Department of Defense states that the piece titled To the Colors is not commonly marched by U S Army troops. It is a bugle call used for retreat formations at the end of the military day.
