High Court Declines Review of Racial Property Purchase

The Supreme Court refuses to hear a new test case on restrictive covenants in white neighborhoods. Lower courts were not asked to enforce similar agreements on properties in St. Louis Detroit and the District of Columbia. Maryland's court declined to enforce a covenant against two Negro couples who bought in Beachwood Forest Anne Arundel County. Six white owners argued Maryland misapplied the 1948 ruling citing buyers knew of the restriction.
