Mrs Blanche Dort of Hillsboro Hospital recuperating from fractures in both arms after a fall in which she slipped on a phrase praising the dance. She decided to learn the big apple while convalescing.
Dr. Edwin Schoop, a Swiss scientist, spoke at Handley Library about a non alcoholic apple juice process. He warned about sulfur dioxide use, pasteurization drawbacks, and the need for a stabilized, clear juice with seven required qualities for long shelf life.
The United States Forest Service has issued a pictorial map folder for the southern portion of the George Washington National Forest. The folder complements an earlier northern folder and highlights aesthetic and historic spots south of Staunton with scenes of Sherando Lake Blue Ridge cabin and a paper mill. Free copies can be requested from the Forest Supervisor in Harrisonburg Virginia.

Forest Supervisor M. C. Howard announced that Elizabeth Furnace New Market Gap and Howe Quarry Forest Camps opened May 1 with water systems tables. Sherando Lake Camp opens later due to road relocation. Camps improved since last season with larger parking areas sanitary facilities and camping areas. A new group camping area was added at Sherando Lake.
In the Clerk's Office of the Corporation Court for Winchester Virginia on April 26 1938 the case of Virginia Wilson plaintiff versus Ralph G Wilson defendant seeks a divorce a vinculo matri monii on the grounds of desertion. The court orders the defendant to appear within 15 days after publication and directs publication in the Winchester Evening Star for four weeks and posting at the courthouse front door before May 2 1938. A copy will be mailed to the defendant at the affidavit address.
Charles Harris' roadside hamburger stand in Peoria was wrecked four hours after opening when a motor truck plowed into the stand destroying it. Authorities reported no serious injuries and Harris planned to reopen with repairs as soon as possible.
Twenty six swine breeders notified George C. Herring that they favor forming a Valley Northern Virginia Hog Breeders Association. A luncheon meeting is set for May 5 at Dorothys Inn two miles south of Woodstock. County Agent G G Dickenson of Shenandoah county arranges the meeting near Woodstock on May 5.
Ballots from Norfolk and Western Railway clerical employees in Roanoke will be counted today to decide if the N W Clerks Association or the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks represents the workers. About 2 700 votes were cast after a three week process completed Saturday with W G Rupp supervising.
