Mrs Emily Catherine Sprint wife of John W Sprint and member of the Shearer family died at their Boyce home after asthma illness. Born New Market she lived in Millwood before moving to Boyce where the couple ran a hotel. On Tuesday the Romans were taken to Winchester and interred in the family lot at Mount Hebron Cemetery. Many floral tokens followed the funeral. The pallbearers were Mrs. Sprint's grandsons. She was the mother of the late Mr. Thomas H. Sprint of Winchester.

Arrest of Henry Dixon for liquor violation near Winchester
Henry Dixon, a noted Black man, was arrested about a mile north of Winchester by Officer Neville on a prohibition charge. Eleven quarts of liquor were found in a suitcase. Dixon, held at police headquarters, faces a hearing this afternoon. a warrant is sworn for Charles Barnett, also Black, for assisting in bringing in the liquor.
