Queen Shenandoah Leads 800 at Timberville Chicken Barbecue
The Timberville Lions Club hosted a large chicken barbecue at Plains District Memorial Park with Queen Shenandoah XXVIII of the Winchester Apple Blossom Festival as guest of honor. More than 800 attendees enjoyed two pound broilers, apple sauce, coleslaw, a bun, and iced tea, amid escort by state troopers and staff from local groups. Proceeds support the Lions' corrective-vision fund for underprivileged children, though a damp evening reduced attendance. The event featured the 60 member Broadway High School Band and other entertainments, and the Queen toured Shenandoah Valley attractions before the barbecue.
