Former Vice President Alben W. Barkley collapsed and died at Washington and Lee University in Lexington Va after delivering a keynote to students at a mock Democratic National Convention. He was 78 and died of a heart attack. Burial set for Paducah Ky Friday.

Mrs. G. A. Hunter gave birth to quadruplets at Methodist Hospital in Dallas. The first weighed 3 pounds 0 ounces and arrived at 11:44 p.m. The second weighed 2 pounds 11 1/2 ounces and arrived three minutes later.
