The J. C. Penny Company win dow display of apple products won first place in the artistic division and the Northern Virginia Power Company window display won best in the commercial division. U S ambassador to Czechoslovakia Ellis O Briggs visited William Oatis in a Czech prison and reported him in good health. Oatis, imprisoned since April 23, 1951, was convicted on espionage charges viewed as trumped up. He said he has dental care reading writing and regular exercise and may be released after good behavior.
