The flying boat Yankee Clipper landed at Horta in the Azores at 8 07 EST after 17 hours 33 minutes from Baltimore on a trans Atlantic flight. Col Frederick S. Greene former New York public works commissioner died of a blood ailment in a Washington hospital. He fell ill in Delray Beach Florida and was en route to his Virginia home. A WWI battalion commander and civil war writer, Greene supervised construction of roads linked to the Lost Battalion. Born April 14, 1870 in Rappahannock Virginia, he joined New York state highways in 1919. Funeral services will be held at ton Cemetery chapel.
