The body of Mrs. C E Fries wife of Clar ence E Fries formerly of Frederick county and long a Washington resident died at her home 1614 Longfellow Street Washington. Funeral at 4 pm Monday. remains to be brought to Winchester on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad at 12 27 pm Tuesday for interment in Hebron Cemetery. Mr Fries son of the late Ja cob and Betty Fries and brother of Charles and Cornelius Fries.
Empire Theatre announces a week of varied bills including Quo Vadis with Emil Jannings and a chariot scene filmed in Rome, Amundsen’s Polar Expedition, Our Gang, and Red Hot Tires. Easter programs will feature John Barrymore, Irene, For Heaven’s Sake, and other stars in upcoming films.

Theodore Deshutch of Winchester facing aggravated assault charges after the death of Carl Peer 23 of Winchester Va in a two car collision four miles north of York on Murder Hill. Peer died in York hospital. Deshutch bond set at 2000 and will face April 6 hearing. Elmer Carbold 59 of Dover charged with illegal liquor transportation. all three injured. Peer leaves behind a wife and a 1 month old daughter.
Mrs Link and her husband William were living in Wardensville West Virginia before moving to Winchester. They were affected by news of Carl Peer’s accident and death as they had learned of his plight and later death. The narrative mentions the Peer family roots with Mr and Mrs Elmer Peer in Summit Point before the move.
The burial for Mrs Emma J Browne sister of J Luther Maphis and Miss Lillie Maphis took place in Edinburg with Reverends Haus and Ellmore officiating. She left eight daughters thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was widow of Jacob Browne and survived by two brothers and a sister in Warrenton. nnote: Mrs Howard Grove attended.
