Bodies of Nine Killed in Andes Crash Found

The wreckage of Pan American Airlines flight San Jose was located four miles south of Puente Del Inca in the Argentine Andes. Nine aboard were confirmed dead. two heads were found, others intact, including US citizens F E Camus J C Sabate and crew Charles Robinson C W Myers A Woods. The discovery was made by Puente Del Inca hotel staff, aiding Pan American Airways in recovering the remains.

Staples Named Virginia Attorney General to Succeed Saunders

Richmond Virginia March 21 Senator A P Staples of Roanoke was appointed by Governor Peery as attorney general of Virginia succeeding the late John R Saunders. Staples will be sworn in at 9 30 tomorrow and serves until 30 days after the next General Assembly convenes.

James O. Ritter to Retire from Local Postal Service

James O. Ritter, a longtime rural free delivery carrier based in Winchester, will retire March 31 after about 23 1/2 years with the post office. He started as a custodian in 1910, became a rural carrier in 1911, and expanded his route from 24 to 29 miles. Ritter, a Winchester native formerly in Norfolk, built the Greenwood Dairy Farm a decade ago, introducing modern milk handling and now plans to focus on the dairy business after retirement.

Two Children Die In School Bus Lumber Truck Crash

Two children were killed and two others seriously injured when a school bus collided with a lumber truck about ten miles west of Troy North Carolina this morning. The dead are Ray McIntyre ten and James Hamilton eight.

Tokyo reports Hakodate devastated by a wind driven fire. Official tallies say 650 killed and 460 wounded as 23 000 homes were destroyed. Four destroyers and other ships carried relief, while the army supplied blankets and food to survivors.

Milton Hoover Buried in Woodstock Funeral Rites

Funeral services were held for Milton B. Hoover 80 at Woodstock after his death following an operation. He was born at the Hoover Homestead near Woodstock and lived most of his life in Shenandoah County. Survived by widow Fannie Headley, son Lloyd M. Tear Gas Device Foils Bank Robbery at King George

Bandits broke into the King George bank before an automatic tear gas device sprayed the vault door. They opened the door with a torch but were repelled by the gas and fled with about $500 in cash. no arrests reported.

Gore Virginia 4-H Club Sees New Boy Members Added

Twenty three boys joined the Gore 4-H Club at a meeting in Gore Virginia. The existing club, now mostly girls, will continue with Miss Elizabeth Farrar guiding the girls and I Fred Stine in charge of the boys. Major boys projects include gardening and poultry while minor ones cover small fruits pigs and baby beefs. A follow up meeting in Middletown is planned for March 29.
