Louis Bromfield Dies at 59 in Columbus Ohio
Pulitzer winner Louis Bromfield novelist columnist and soil conservation advocate died in University Hospital Columbus after kidney and liver failure from a jaundice infection. He was 59 and admitted February 28. He won the 1926 Pulitzer for Early Autumn and is survived by three daughters including Hope Bromfield Stevens.

Fire drives Grove family from home on Cork Street
A fire started by an overheated stove and faulty flue forced Mr and Mrs John Grove and eight relatives from their seven room frame house at 20 East Cork Street. Firemen confined the blaze to the attic and a wall area near the coal heater with $1500 in damages. The family sought shelter at Friendship Fire Hall while the church owned building was insured and repairs planned. Only other weekend fire in the area involved Sam Hensley’s gasoline flare outside 617 South Kent Street with no damage.
