The Handley auditorium echoed with laughter as The Adorable Imp a three act comedy by Jay Tobias stirred a large audience for the annual senior play. Barbara Brooks led as the 17 year old imp with strong supporting turns from Patricia Clevenger Patricia Way Jimmy Clark and others under Miss Joyce Sutton and Handley faculty direction.

Safeblowers Loot Alexandria Market Safe For $1700
Police described the culprits as explosives experts who blew open a heavy steel safe in the rear storeroom of the Alexandria Sunshine Market. The blast occurred early today and the safe doors were blown into the office ceiling. Owner Jack Rubin found the store open at 8:30 a.m. and reported the $1700 theft.

A five story Arcadia Hotel in Staunton suffered a $100000 blaze caused by an electric fuse box. Police reported no casualties as 20 guests and others evacuated. Firefighters from Staunton Harrisonburg Waynesboro and Augusta County fought the fire for nearly five hours. Only brick walls remained. losses covered by insurance were not disclosed.
