Theodore Campbell, a young married man, was acquitted by a five member jury in Corporation Court after a brief deliberation. Prosecutors failed to produce liquor found during a raid and relied on testimony about an aroma in wash water and jars. Campbell’s wife explained the jars had been emptied that morning and the odor came from fruit juices.

The last will of M. Tilden Reed probated in the Corporation Court bequeaths equal shares of three Winchester properties’ net proceeds to Braddock Street Methodist Episcopal Church South and to the Children's Home Society of Virginia. Mrs. Reed receives life use of the properties with remainder to the two charities. The will, dated October 10, 1929, names executor and bond.

Chest Clinic Slated March 21 By District Nurse
The District Nurse Association will sponsor a chest clinic on Friday March 21 in the county rest room building near the county clerk's office. Dr. C. W. Scott of the State Board of Health will oversee the examinations. The event runs 9:30 am to noon and 2 to 4 pm with free chest examinations for all. Children under 14 require a written request from their family physician to be examined.

Pilot wrecks plane attempting landing near Middleburg

56 Moscow Churches Shut by Soviet Decree

Warren Indicted in U S Court on White Slave Case
Sheriff Luther Pannett testified Warren of Front Royal Va was indicted on two counts under the white slave act after a grand jury in Winchester heard his case. Warren reportedly admitted guilt to the sheriff though a bench warrant was issued for his arrest at his Front Royal home. The case involves a 16 year old Frederick County girl who left home with Warren, traveled as his companion, and later died of a gunshot wound in Winchester County after learning he was married. The victim was 16 when she left, 17 at her death.

Longtime Frederick County farmer Slater W Allen dies at 78
Slater W Allen a respected Frederick county resident died at his home near Stephenson five miles north of Winchester at age seventy nine after a long illness. He was born in 1851 in Montgomery County Pa and lived in Johnstown and Juniata counties before moving to Frederick in 1900. He served as a Presbyterian elder and is survived by his widow Mary and two daughters Anna and Florence. Funeral arrangements set for Thursday at his Stephenson home with Rev. Dr. F T Meaden officiating.
