Frank Baker 73 was badly burned and taken to Winchester hospital after a fire of unknown origin destroyed his three room dwelling on Front Royal Road. Neighbors John Lewis Jr and Ollie Snider helped pull him free as flames spread from the living room stove area. Firefighters kept the blaze from spreading to nearby homes while embers forced a 3:30 am return call and traffic clogged the area.
