Council to Hear Planning District Progress Report

R Edward Duncan executive director of the Lord Fairfax Planning District Commission is set to attend Winchester City Council tonight to present a progress report and field questions. The 7 30 p m meeting in Rouss City Hall will also consider minor revisions to two February 10 1970 resolutions on Braddock and Amherst parking facility and water sewer bid assessments.

Mitchell Says He Had No Role in ITT Settlement

Former Attorney General John N. Mitchell testified he was not involved in the ITT antitrust settlement nor in negotiations for next summer's Republican National Convention. He cited disqualification in 1969 due to his former law firm work for ITT subsidiary and said no contact with ITT reps beyond Harold Geneen Felix Rohatyn and Dita Beard occurred.

Durham Counsel Plans Alibi in Retrial for 1963 Slaying

Luther Durham Jr faces a retrial in the 1963 double tollgate murder of 85 year old Mrs. E M Snow as defense lawyers seek to introduce an alibi claiming he was at Hopyard Farm Dogue King George County at the time. The case drew 30 plus witnesses and a large venire in Frederick County Circuit Court with 49 jurors contacted for a 40 member panel. He has remained imprisoned in Richmond since his 1965 life sentence and prior appeals failed.

Dulaney Promoted to Assistant Retail Advertising Manager

Gerald W. Dulaney, native of Winchester and Handley High School graduate, is promoted to assistant retail advertising manager of the Winchester Evening Star. He succeeds William Vanscoy who resigned to join Terry Industries. Dulaney served in the U.S. Army 1952-1954 and worked in display advertising at the Star and Harrisonburg’s Daily News Record.
