Route 33 crash ends county’s traffic death-free run
Otis Dan was killed in a high speed crash on Route 33 east of Harrisonburg Monday. A second passenger was in fair condition at Rockingham Hospital. a third man escaped. Trooper Crist said the vehicle left the highway and traveled 300 feet before stopping. victim and James Allen were thrown from the car. Police have not confirmed which man drove. In Edinburg, Barbara Ann Chilcott Weatherholtz and Dorothy Chilcott, mother and grandmother, were jailed on neglect charges for a four year old. the child remains in Woodstock Hospital with improved condition. Both women held on $250 bonds.

Girl Injured in Fall at Warren County High School
Karen Shifflett, 15, daughter of Mr and Mrs Raymond Shifflett of Front Royal, was injured in a fall from gym bleachers at Warren County High School yesterday. She was taken to Warren Hospital with injuries believed to be to the left side.

Three area men sentenced in Harrisonburg court
Leonard Rhinehart 29 a truck driver received one year with five years suspended. Winfield Schleyfen Jr 33 a teacher and choir director got six months with 30 months suspended. Norman Kisling 25 also six months with 30 months suspended. James Black pleads innocent and heads to trial March 26. In Martinsburg two men Brown 25 of Martinsburg and Hostler 25 of Vienna Va were arrested for the Sept 16 Southern States Cooperative robbery. Brown admits taking part in the theft of about 300 dollars and both to face Loudoun County charges before Martinsburg return.
