Virginia General Assembly Highlights From Friday Session
The Virginia Assembly moved to pass pari mutuel betting pending a November statewide referendum. Other actions include education quality standards requiring seniors pass a diploma test, a fuel adjustment clause reform for utilities, and a Medicaid abortion funding debate ending with life-endangerment as trigger. Experimental bills on beverage container bans and local power cooperatives stalled or shifted to conference committees, and debates over kindergarten age and child proof tops for medication prompted cross-chamber talks.
