Holmes Carlisle 54 a Clarke county resident died in Berryville Virginia after a stove in the postoffice building released a puff of gas striking him in the face and causing immediate collapse. He had been in frail health and was assisting with postoffice duties when the incident occurred about 7 am. Dr A P Osborne attended but could not help. He left a widow formerly Miss Hattie McAtee. Funeral arrangements had not been made by mid afternoon.

John W. Nail of North Braddock Street died last night in the Stonewall Jackson house at age 84. He had been in declining health for over a year and death came around 8 o clock.
