The Winchester City Council and the Frederick County Board of Supervisors will hold a joint dinner meeting in Middletown at the Wayside Inn starting 6 30 PM to discuss mutual problems. Frederick County pupil registration for next fall begins next Monday through Friday at the local school serving each area. Parents should call the respective school for details. The Tusssey Mountain High School Band of Saxton Pa will march in the Apple Blossom Grand Feature Parade on May 3 for the 17th year. The band has won multiple trophies in Winchester and will field 60 instruments and a 13 member band front. Richard C Shoemaker directs the group.

S. Stern Held In Stabbing Death
Winchester police arrested Thomas Stern, an unemployed bricklayer, on a murder charge for the stabbing death of Eugene E. Wedlock 33, of 107 W Leicester. Wedlock died at Winchester Memorial Hospital after multiple stab wounds around 1 a.m. in a residence disturbance. Police, aided by Rescue Squad, questioned witnesses and traced Stern to the station by 3:40 a.m. Survivors include his grandmother and a brother in Hawaii. Funeral arrangements incomplete.

Girl in Critical Condition After Motorcycle Mishap
Elisa Beck a sixteen year old New York girl remains in critical condition at Winchester hospital after a motorcycle accident Friday near Woodstock. Her companion Paul Semenoff faces charges of reckless driving and possessing no operator license. The collision occurred at 7 p.m. two miles south of Woodstock on Rt 11 when Beck pushed a stalled bike as cars backed up and a Cecil car struck the motorcycle.

Kathy Sue Cyrus a 14 year old of Front Royal was shot in the left cheek with the bullet lodging behind her left eye. Billy Lee Whited 23 of Culpeper faces felonious assault charges from Shenandoah County Police. Cyrus is listed in satisfactory condition at Winchester Memorial Hospital. Police say the pair were in a car about three miles east of Woodstock known as Woodstock Mountain when the shooting happened shortly after midnight Friday. Whiteden transported Cyrus to the Shenandoah County Hospital then to Winchester Memorial Hospital.

Virginia legislators on the final day of the 1968 General Assembly worked to resolve House Senate differences on driver licensing blood alcohol tests and policyholder protections after a long session. They narrowly differed on governor salary and debated a 35 million bond plan and a 81 million capital outlay. The budget was approved with most Senate changes accepted and talks continued on a watered down casualty insurance bill and an expanded freedom of information measure. A teacher tenure bill also advanced, allowing probation after a three year period.
