A large two story White Sulphur Inn at Bartlettville Frederick county was consumed by fire early Sunday. The Russell family from Winchester narrowly escaped with few items. A passing motorist alerted them and firemen kept the blaze from nearby structures. The inn owned by People’s Bank of Stephens City and insured. Loss about 10000 dollars.

Death of N A Cooper in Albin home after stroke
Newton A Cooper longtime Winchester businessman and Frederick County farmer died at his Albin home after a paralysis stroke Sunday. He was eighty. Survived by two sons Walter and Grover and daughter Mrs Lewis Hartman, with grandchildren Beulah Helen and Donald Hartman. The widower of Frances Ashton Cooper, he and his wife celebrated their fifty eighth anniversary last November.

Railroad lines crippled by fury of storm
Rail lines in and out of Winchester and nearby areas were crippled but not paralyzed by the great storm. Trains ran late yet progressed, while motor bus trains from Pennsylvan ia and Baltimore and Ohio were withdrawn due to drifting snow. Locomotive drawn trains were used for emergencies as more passengers rode yesterday and today than in years. Motor bus traffic on highways stood still, forcing travelers to retreat.
