Richmond March 6 The dispensary liquor control bill, amended to suit Gov. Peery, heads to signature and will make legal liquor available in Virginia March 22, due to a 15 day post signing effective date. Amends make buyers as liable as sellers, limit wholesale and retail druggist purchases, and separate beer revenue from liquor profits for local distribution.
Time to prune grapes roses and shrubs calls to 802 R. B. Kater advertises trimming services in a short classified notice.
A Packard taxi driver Franklin Potts was forced to abandon his vehicle at about 8 10 last night on Valley avenue near Shawnee Inn by a passenger dressed in a dark overcoat and slouch hat. The thief, about 140 to 150 pounds, directed Potts to Elm Inn and back to Shawnee Inn searching for a girl named Flora Wheney. The car was found undamaged at 10 20 on a hill above Handley School. the passenger remained missing and police have no motive.

Treasury shows public debt up over five million in the past year. Senate passes Vinson Trammell navy bill authorizing seven year program including destroyers submarines and aircraft.
The City Council instructed City Treasurer W A Baker to prepare a delinquent tax list for 1932 taxes and publish preparatory notices to sell property for delinquent taxes. A council committee was set to meet with the Treasurer to review unpaid water and sewer bills and authorize water shutoffs for overdue accounts. Baker asks those affected to contact his office promptly to avoid embarrassment.
Winchester Virginia March 6 1934 the Common Council adopted a resolution urging State Highway Commissioner Henry G Shirley to repair and permanently improve Route 50 between Winchester and Washington C with emphasis on widening and correcting dangerous alignment and grades following freezing damage. Copies to governor senators and representatives were ordered.
The new women's wear shop at 158 North Loudoun Street adjacent to Lovett Shoe Store opens tomorrow by Mr and Mrs Jack Wilkins. It features ready to wear apparel, modern lighting, display cases, four dressing rooms, a lounging area, stock and alteration rooms, two large show windows, and floral decorations of pink gladiolus and pink and white carnations.

At the Texas prison five inmates tried to break out from a cell row using a self made key. They overpowered an unarmed guard, were stopped after guards fired. Wounded were Charley Frazier Edward McArthur and Pete Finch. Roy Thornton and Robert Hill also involved. Hill linked to the Santa Claus band. Thornton is Bonnie Parker's husband.
