Ten Die In Canadian House Fire At Ste Marie de Beauge
Ten persons perished when a fire destroyed Thomas Cliche’s home in Ste Marie de Beauge Quebec. Mrs Cliche died trying to rescue eight children trapped inside. Cliche and his wife rushed out in night clothes to sound the alarm and later attempted to reenter. Mrs Cliche vanished through a window. Charles Cliche, Thomas’s father, is believed to have suffocated on the top floor.

Velma West, 21, pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the hammer slaying of her husband Thomas Edward West. Judge J. D. Barnes imposed life imprisonment in Marysville reformatories after the plea, with defense and state agreeing to avoid a trial on first degree murder.
