Power Outage Briefly Hits Parts of Winchester Area
Power was cut in an area from Stewart Street in Winchester to Round Hill in Frederick County for about an hour. Godfrey Zirkle of Potomac Edison said an insulator on a disconnector shorted and knocked out one side of the main transformer causing a substation fuse to blow. The outage began around 10 a.m. and power returned by 10:57 a.m. The cause of the insulator fault was not known.
