Steam-Up show fuels Clarke County nostalgia with giant engines
Enthusiasts from six states bring 125 steam engines to Berryville for a three day Steam-Up at the Berryville Horse Show Grounds. Volunteers prep, paint, and operate machines by day and night while two refreshment stands and a new grandstand rise to handle an expected 20 000 visitors. The event features a blacksmith shop from New Oxford Pa and a 14 instrument band organ from Fairfax Virginia.

Old Time Machinery Show tours attract steam buffs
Charley and Mrs. Hope travel to fairs and collect early history on film and audio gear. They demonstrate sounds of a 1890 double cylinder steam engine and share whistle codes used to guide workers. The couple promotes catalogs and magazines at the Berryville Pageant of Steam and notes strong ties to the Valley Steam Engine Assn. member Stuart Fellner.
