Far East Air Force reports destruction of 15 North Korean tanks and 161 sorties including a B-29 raid along the Han River near Seoul. Two hostile aircraft destroyed as F 80 jets strike Kimpo air field. President Truman authorizes U S ground forces amid a northward push toward Suwon and Seoul.
Effective July 1, material and service sales restricted to wholesale accounts only. The Valley Service Station in Winchester Virginia informs customers of the change and urges contact for wholesale arrangements. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals sponsors a Friday 7 p m dog show at the Farmer's Livestock Exchange to raise funds for animal care and humane education. Prizes include a cup for best all around, with ribbons in all classes. entrants range from mongrels to well trained pets. Local SPCA leaders note the committee aims to improve pet treatment while supporting hundreds of annual calls for lost dogs and mistreatment cases.
Columbus Ohio Fire Marshal says Robert Dale Segree 21 of Circleville has signed statements admitting he set the Hartford Connecticut Ringling Brothers fire of July 6 1944 that killed 168 and injured 412. He claims responsibility for 25 to 30 major fires from 1939 to 1946 and four killings, with indictments returned by a Pickaway County grand jury for arson stemming from Circleville fires.
Nationalist China informed the United Nations it would provide assistance to the Republic of Korea within its power. Officials said three divisions and air units were the likely contribution and discussed with Korea and the United States, including General MacArthur, how to proceed.
