Export-Import Bank Chief Says Cash Goes to U S Exporters
Warren Lee Pierson, president of the Export-Import Bank, announced that no foreign government need apply for the $500 million in foreign loans under Roosevelt’s lending program. He described a $5 million credit to finance railroad equipment sales to Portugal, with a three way deal involving manufacturers and the Portuguese State Railways. Similar arrangements have funded cotton sales to Poland, Italy, Latvia and Estonia, shaping a pattern likely to favor Latin America if the program is unauthorized.
