Ghopcraft and other union and railroad executives are cited to appear before the board in Chicago on Saturday. The action involves coordinated labor disputes and regulatory oversight.
National railroad leaders and six shop craft unions prepared to meet the Labor Board to avert a threatened traffic disruption. B M Jewell said shop men would obey the board only under protest while engineers and trainmen continued regular duties. West Chicago crews reportedly quit, and officials prepared for a nationwide strike across maintenance of way, stationary firemen and signalmen.
G L Rothgeb of Sleepy Hollow Farm near Stephens City Va won a ten dollar gold prize from the Commercial and Savings Bank of Winchester for the best 300 word essay on Diversified Farming. Dr. and Mrs. J William Ebert of Lutherville Baltimore county arrived yesterday for a visit at the home of Dr Ebert's parents Mr and Mrs M P Ebert near Stephenson this county. Dr Ebert will return Friday and Mrs Ebert and their children will stay for several weeks.
Robert D. Fawcett postmaster of Fawcett Gay and Bertha M. Moore daughter of W. C. Moore obtain a county marriage license. Fawcett is son of the late T. F. Fawcett and Moore is connected to the Weems farm near Kernstown.
The Country Club reports about 196 members with close to 200 reached soon. A general meeting will elect offices and form a permanent group once the 200 mark is hit. Architect Stuart H Edmonds will design a 30 by 60 foot main building with wings for dining and baths, plus potential pool and extensive athletic facilities.
Amie Pfeil of Winchester dominated Red Herrell as Winchester won 4 to 1. The game lasted 1 hour 30 minutes with Pfeil fanning 12 and Herrell 5. Woodring and Herrell starred for Strasburg while Pfeil and Holden excelled for Winchester. Shepherdstown visits Winchester Friday at 3 p.m. Umpire Warren.
