Impeachment Case Viewpoint Mixed on St Clair Presentation
Washington AP reports mixed reactions from House Judiciary members as presidential lawyer James D. St Clair concludes his two day briefing. Some defend his emphasis on Nixon defense while critics say he relied on edited transcripts and failed to challenge Doar’s evidence. Nixon allies flag possible witness additions as Senate probes into funds and leaks continue.

Defense chiefs in the dark on SALT options
Pentagon sources say Secretary Schlesinger and the Joint Chiefs have not been told which nuclear arms limit proposals President Nixon will press in Moscow. They oppose extending SALT without changes beyond 1977 and fear MIRV expansion could tilt the nuclear balance. Nixon and Kissinger left for Europe without briefing the defense leaders.
