Early Apple Crop Ready for Market Late Next Week
Winchester's early apple crop will go to market the latter part of next week. Transparent harvest starts July 5 on Butler orchards with the E. W. Barr packing house opening about the same time. Butler expects only half the 1949 Transparents, thinning paying off with some apples two to two and a quarter inches. Prices may reach 2.75 dollars early, then around 2.25 as the season develops.
