Washington June 28 The forecast of the smallest wheat yield in 41 years could push the 1930s era AAA toward a controlled acreage over a curtailed one. The 500 million bushel crop would leave a 260 to 270 million bushel carryover, with exports and world prices shaping policy decisions.

Fayette, Alabama. Earl Porter faces assault with intent to murder charges over alleged abuse of 12 year old Mary Virginia Johnson who is in Jasper hospital. Porter, 57, was jailed under $400 bond after Sheriff Joe McConnell found him with relatives near Reform. Porter denies mistreating the child.
